I've looked into enrolling in other cosmetology schools but their classes were so large... how many students are in the classes at IBS?
The program at IBS is designed around creating the best learning environment possible. Our freshman class is up to 15 students which means smaller class sizes and more one-on-one attention. Generally our 6000 square foot facility can accommodate up to 70 students.
What is the background of the instructor staff at IBS?
Staff members are board certified and have a minimum of five years of salon experience.
Can I complete the Cosmetology program in a shorter time than the standard 1500 hours?
No. The Maryland Higher Education Commission and the State Board of Cosmetology mandates a course length of 1500 hours for any cosmetology program, regardless of what school you attend. Many of our students have found that, compared to the costs of our competitors, IBS-Bel Air is a much more cost effective solution.
Why is there a difference in tuition between cosmetology schools… is it because they don’t teach the same curriculum?
All cosmetology schools in Maryland are governed by the Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) and must teach the same curriculum. Because the same material is taught at every cosmetology school in Maryland we feel IBS-Bel Air offers a greater value for the same education compared to other programs.
I’m not sure I can afford the tuition, can I receive financial aid?
In order to find out if you qualify for financial aid you need to fill out a FAFSA form. This is a free form provided by the school. We deal directly with the Federal Government and offer Subsidized, Unsubsidized, and Plus loans.
How much does the program cost?
Tuition for the cosmetology program at IBS-Bel Air is $12000 which includes a text book, practical work book, theory work book, exam book, and a kit which includes four manikins and everything you will need to go through the course.
Will I be required to wear a uniform?
Yes, the school provides a smock as part of your kit and you must wear black pants, a white shirt, and black or white shoes that enclose your entire feet.
Can I change my evening schedule to a day schedule, or vice versa?
Yes, if space is available.
I only want to cut hair, can I just learn that?
The cosmetology course covers all aspects of hair, nails, waxing, and mini facials. The course is mandated by the Maryland Board of Cosmetology.
How long does it take to complete the course?
Full time: 30hrs per week for 52 weeks
Part time: 20hrs per week for 77 weeks |
